Star Fleet: Galactic Conquest

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Admiral, the Federation has promised us a dreadnought-led fleet to help us beat off the Gorn-Romulan Coalition. Where do you wish the Federation ships to go? Remember, we don’t want them to see that new planet we are developing on their border!

The newly updated Fifth Edition of the most famous campaign rules in the Star Fleet Universe. Use these rules in the official campaigns or to build your own campaign. Includes everything! Conquest, exploration, alliances, diplomacy, construction, technology development, ships, bases, and a thousand more things.

This campaign system is designed to use with Star Fleet Battles (it might work with other game systems if you go to some effort) and assumes you either create your own map or use the map provided by the campaign gamemasters. This new edition includes an extensive index, making it easy to track down exactly what you want to know.

WARNING! Bought a hard copy of this, thinking it was used for creating own campaigns. Is only useful if you're playing one of the ADB run campaigns on their forums. Useless and a waste otherwise. Like 3 people control all the information and "hidden" rules required to run a campaign

Where do you get the information that makes this a useful product?

Hi Ray,

This is the framework you would need to run a campaign based on Star Fleet Battles. As a GM, you decide upon much of how you will personalize each empire, any special abilities, extra income, etc. Then players use your personalized rules and apply these rules to rule the galaxy. You will need to have Module G3 at a minimum in order to play -- other SFB products help customize your ships beyond what the basic ship is listed at.

You basically have to join one of their campaigns. There's a lot of "hidden" content that they control that isn't included in the rulebook. Starting forces. Racial special rules. Spying. Stuff like that.

With respect, Christopher, the "hidden" content changes from game to game because the GM makes it up. Most of the Romulan rules from one game to another are NOT the same (I've played the Romulans multiple times). I assume that this holds true for the other empires too. The two GMs I am familiar with use radically different empire special rules which in turn opens/closes different player strategies. Some of the changes are because players found a loophole. Some of the changes are for variety (one player looked at the YIS dates for the WE/BH/SNA and decided to attack before the Romulans could defend themselves, only to find that in that game one of the hidden rules was a date change on the service dates of those ships- ooops).

In a nutshell, because this system is moderated by a GM you can have a lot of "fog of war" information, including the capabilities of each empire. It isn't like Federation & Empire where you can see every ship, the econ form, and know when each tech advance...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
