Fungi Cavern
by Itai A. R. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 10/11/2023 13:18:15

It's very useful to have art for a fungi cavern because it's a trope that appears in many old-school adventures.

Witch

I bought a lot of stock art. Some I have used, some I haven't. I am really, really disappointed in myself that I have not used this one anywhere yet. I need to fix that.

Witch from Artikid Arts

From Luigi Castellani. It features a dead or zombie witch on a broom. Love it. Has a real "American Witch" meets "Living Dead Girl" vibe to it.

The cat and the ripped fishnets are a nice touch.

Under the Moons of Zoon
by A customer [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/27/2016 23:13:15

It seems based on Barbarians of Lemuria, or at least was listed as such on the BoL page. So it does have good mechanics and rules. As a game it seems to work fine. However it is a druge to read, as the authors are enamoured of long words made of random letters for everything. There was such a mishmash of technologies. Leather armored guys with swords fighting flying battle ships armed with ray cannons. Apparently they try to fit everything from dozens of different conflicting series of the planets and perils genre instead of just one. So as a game it would be five, but reading it subtracts one. Also I found the odd note that getting healining speeds natural healing by one per day, but I couldn't find how natural healin worked.

Hi and thanks for the review. I\'d like to make clear that Under the moons of Zoon is not based on Barbarians of Lemuria (a very fine game!) although there are some mechanical similarities. Natural healing is explained on page 15 under Life Points: \"For a full day of rest, a character recovers 3 LP.\"

The blue book of dangers & dweomers
by Brian R. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/04/2014 07:57:34

This is a nice little gem. And I was happily surprised by what I found inside. It was like some-one decided to throw many 3.5 Ideas into an Old-School D&D system. Each race is more unique , the classes have abilities you would only find in later editions. A silver piece based Monetary system instead of gold pieces! There are enough goodies in this system, that would make me want to definetly play and give it a try.

Under the Moons of Zoon
by Simon K. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/10/2013 21:31:16

I got this as a free PDF, and about 5 minutes into looking at it I knew I would love it. Disclaimer: I haven't tested the mechanics of the system yet, but I am a fan of planetary romance. While the novels themselves can be a bit repetitive the settings offer a lot of flavour and possibilities that don't fit well into the pseudo-medieval setting of most fantasy rpgs. This game does a great job of distilling the tropes of the genre into its own setting, a tidally locked moon with a day and night side and a crumbling civilisation. The rules are simple and suit heroic play where action and romance are more important than multiple dice rolls, modifiers, and levelling up, so this game will suit narrative style play better than power gaming. I believe this game was translated from Italian and despite that there were very few grammatical errors and overall they did little to detract from readability. The art has a slightly cartoony look and suits the setting well, it is also stylistically consistent which I appreciate. Its not a long game at around 80 pages but supplies enough for a creative GM to get started without overburdening with detail, each GM's setting is sure to have a different interpretation of the world anyway. If you are a fan of the genre then I recommend picking up and reading the PDF, then if you are pleased with what you see think about the print version. I will be interested to see if any supplements come out for this.

Hi Simon, thanks for the very favorable review! The game was written in english, no previous italian edition exists. Also please feel free to contact me and point out any grammatical errors! No supplements are planned till 2014.

Fantasy Stock Art Volume 5
by Megan R. [Featured Reviewer] Date Added: 10/21/2013 10:41:37

This is a collection of exceptionally good line art of typical fantasy scenes, drawn in a style reminiscent of the illustrations in early D&D product.

There is lots of detail in each image - which come as a zip file of .TIF images as well as an 'overview' PDF.

The licence terms are generous and should fit the needs of most publishers and developers well.

This is really 'product' illustration, if you are looking for stock art for personal files, this may not be what you are after. But if you have an adventure or similar for which any of these scenes would be suitable, especially if you like the 'old school' feel, this is well worth consideration.
