ICONS: The RetConQuest
Publisher: Ad Infinitum Adventures

I ran this adventure on the weekend with four players. We`ve been running ICONS for a while and I thought it would be a good break from the campaign we were running.

Reading through I remembered the old movie "1984" and "Brazil". So without telling my players anything I told them they just got off work and as usual it was raining. Footsteps echoeing against brick houses etc. They really enjoyed the mystery and all the NPCs doing what they normally wouldnt.

All in all it was simple scenario and it was up to GM to fluff it up. I like these simple suppliment over more detailed ones, there more room for individual groups to fit their form.

Dime Stories: Ain't Nothin' for Free

Simple system and very versatile, could be play with different world settings. I like the way all attributes and skills are d4, d6, d8, d10. As I am happy rolling different dice, I like the simplicity and fun of choosing rolling which dice to what attribute, I`m gonna use this and modified version of it in different setting. I am also thinking of using it in Horror, Zombie Apocalypse, fantasy etc. Great system! Love it!

Thanks for the review! It always makes em grin when people like this system. Originally, it was intended as a proof that a small scale rpg could be made well with an implied setting in under 500 words- then it kept getting bigger. I tried to keep it relatively open to allow just the kind of genre swap you were mentioning (Though terminology might change a bit- like Gall, Cajones, or Daring for Grit.. etc..). If you liked Dime Stories, I implore you to check out the systems that influenced (influenced? no, more like caused) its creation: Cortex and FATE. Both are fantastic systems made by fantastic people and worth the notice of role players everywhere. Thanks again! ~Joe

Old School Hack

Old School Hack. Great free product from Kirin Robinson.

The product has a very simple game mechanics with a very inventive and excellent party flavored experience system. Based on old D&D, you can hack your way through Goblins and Orcs. Easy to learn and play. although I wished there was a sample monster somewhere in there. But for a free product, It`s a great fun.
